Indulge in a Hinterland Scenic Food & Wine tour that features a local cheese tasting in Maleny, a fabulous 2-course gourmet lunch, wine tasting, and breathtaking scenic lookouts. To add a touch of luxury, the tour culminates in a platter of handmade Belgian chocolates.
This guided tour is a full-day excursion that showcases the breathtaking scenery of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland along with some of the finest local produce the region has to offer. Starting with a pick-up from your accommodation, the tour takes you towards the lush subtropical hinterland. The first stop of the day is a scenic lookout that offers stunning views of the National Heritage-listed Glass House Mountains.
Next, you’ll visit the dairy town of Maleny, where you can indulge in a range of local and international cheeses at Maleny Food Co. From there, you’ll head to The Barrel, an iconic destination shaped like a giant wine barrel on the grounds of Clouds Vineyard, where you can enjoy a wine-tasting flight. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a delicious two-course lakeside lunch.
The tour then heads to the quaint hinterland village of Montville, with a stop at a scenic lookout along the way. You’ll have free time to browse the shops and boutiques, pick up locally handcrafted items, and take in the fresh mountain air. While in Montville, you’ll also visit Chocolate Country, where you can savour a luxury handmade sampler box of chocolates (one per couple). Finally, the tour makes its way back down the range via another stunning scenic lookout before returning you to your accommodation.

Your first stop on the tour is Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in Maleny, located on the aptly named Mountain View Road. From here, you’ll be able to enjoy stunning views towards the coast and take in the breathtaking National Heritage-listed Glass House Mountains.
Our next stop is the charming town of Maleny, located 436 meters above sea level on the southern edge of the Blackall Range. This picture-perfect dairy country town is known for attracting painters, craftspeople, and potters. While in Maleny, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in a selection
Indulge in a true cheese connoisseur’s experience as you sample the finest artisanal cheeses from Australia and around the world. Your cheese tasting board will feature a curated selection of cheeses paired with a variety of complementary condiments such as quince jam, baby pickles, figs, muscatels on the vine, dried fruits, and crusty sourdough bread. Maleny Food Co. is renowned as one of Australia’s premier cheese shops, boasting an impressive selection of over 250 cheeses.
Our next stop is Clouds Vineyard cellar door where you can savour the flavours of local award-winning wines during a flight of wine experience. Immerse yourself in the aroma and taste of the wines, while our knowledgeable guide teaches you about the different grape varieties grown in our region.
One of the two scenic lookouts we will visit is Gerrard’s Lookout, situated on a hilltop that provides stunning views of the coastline including Coolum, Maroochydore, Caloundra, and Bribie Island.
Next, you will enjoy a gourmet lunch at Secrets on the Lake, a popular foodie destination set in the rainforest on the side of Lake Baroon near Montville, offering panoramic views of the lake where you will savour a delicious 2-course meal included in the tour.
When we arrive at the Hinterland Village of Montville, we will first stop for some wine and chocolate tasting. After that, you will have some free time to explore the delightful shops and boutiques and enjoy the picture-postcard village and its fresh mountain air.
It’s late afternoon, and you’ve had the chance to purchase a few bottles of the exceptional local wine to take home as a memento. As we make our way down from the stunning hinterland, you’ll have some time to relax and enjoy the scenery before returning to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest before dinner.
The Mapleton Falls lookout is often considered a highlight of the day for visitors, as it is a hidden treasure located in the Hinterland region. This scenic lookout provides breathtaking views of the Obi Obi Valley and the lush rainforest canopy below.
It’s late afternoon, and you’ve purchased a couple of bottles of local wine to bring back home. Now, it’s time to descend back down to sea level, where you can arrive at your accommodation with enough time to rest before dinner.
